Professional Updates and Resources
  1. From Western Pacific Renal Network #17:
    Patient Assessment Tip Sheet

  2. From our NKF Regional Representative Aaron Herold on the recent NKF CNSW Webinar on KDQOL:
The Council of Nephrology Social Workers (CNSW) hosted a very successful free webinar on "Improving Dialysis Patient Health Related Quality of Life" on December 10th, 2008. Over 600 people attended the webinar. The webinar, including slides and sound, is now available at http://www.kidney.org/professionals/CNSW/conditions.cfm. You are also able to download the slides in PDF.

  3. From Beth Witten, Resource & Policy Associate of the Medical Education Institute, on the KDQOL in Spanish:
The U.S. Spanish KDQOL-36 translation is now available on the KDQOL website (http://gim.med.ucla.edu/kdqol). You can register (free) to download it. If you don't speak/read Spanish, you can look at the question number and input the patient's response on the KDQOL-36 Online site at www.lifeoptions.org/kdqol). This way you can get the report in English with the scores and tips. Once you have the report, someone who is bilingual can translate it for your Spanish speaking patients. You will be able to document the scores in the patient's medical record and report the scores and tell the team any questions that the patient marked low by comparing it to the English survey. Remember, higher is better on the KDQOL-36.

  4. Educational materials and resources are available on the Western Pacific Renal Network, LLC (Network #17) website:
    www.esrdnet17.org
