Welcome back Healthy Kidneys for Life!
Healthy Kidneys for Life, the foundation's very special children-focused health education program is coming back new, improved and ready to roll! Although the program has been in existence for many years, it has been completely revamped with a completely new approach. With childhood obesity and juvenile diabetes on the rise, the NKF wants to make sure that children all over Northern CA and Northern NV are being introduced to choosing healthy choices early in life and making them aware of what the consequences of poor choices could potentially result in later on in life.
Through an adventurous story line and vivid animated characters filled with valuable educational content, HKFL will take kids on a great adventure where they will learn about their kidneys, making wise and healthy lifestyle choices, and introduced to topics such as diabetes and hypertension. A 45-minute interactive presentation module that will have kids saying "ooo-ahhh" will be making its way out into 5th grade public classrooms all over Northern CA this year!
With the program's redevelopment still in its new stages, it will be piloted in various 5th grade classrooms in five major cities including, San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, Sacramento, and Fresno. With extensive evaluation and critical feedback, the program will continue to grow and change into what we hope will develop into a successful and resourceful model that will be sure to make an impact in kids and the lifestyle choices they are making!
